Teachers play a critical role in the education of children. Children need a guide to help them along their path to learning. A good guide is one who truly knows each child, observing and assessing each child’s strengths and weaknesses. At Advantage Preschool in Ann Arbor, I use that information to design instruction to meet the individual needs of your child.
In acquiring my bachelor’s degree in psychology, I gained a strong understanding of how children develop. I studied in-depth how children learn, what motivates them to learn, what helps and hinders their learning, as well as how to increase retention rates in learning. I also benefit from having a solid background in behavioral analysis, which is always helpful in working with young children.
In 2002 I received my Master’s Degree in Education from The University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. I also have my Michigan Professional Education Certificate, valid to teach all subjects K-8, and Language Arts 6-8. I have experience teaching in a public school setting in grades Pre-K (Young Five’s), K, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, and have been a substitute teacher for virtually every grade. I am adept at assessment, lesson planning, and instruction, and I have a rich source of knowledge in the most current teaching methods being used in the Ann Arbor public schools.
Children are naturally curious and learn best when they are intrinsically motivated to do so. I firmly believe in the uniqueness of each child’s learning and development, so my instruction is tailored to suit your child’s needs. My goal is to develop each student's individual talents and to nurture his or her natural eagerness to learn.
